Revealed - The Negative Calorie Diet Review
By Max Harris

What if you were told that you could lose 14 pounds in 7 days, by not exercising or starving, but by actually eating more? Well you would probably say that's (fill in the blank) but that's exactly what the Negative Calorie diet promises.

Being popular since 1997, this diet is still very popular today and works in a very unusual way. Now let me repeat that, it works, but it's not perfect. People who try this diet are told to eat foods that trigger a Negative Calorie reaction in the body.

The key to this diet is the foods you eat that trigger that reaction. There is no such thing as a Negative Calorie food. Most foods we eat are broken down and used to store fat and maintain energy. Unfortunately in today's world, most of what we eat causes fat to gain and the body to store it.

However with this diet, you eat foods that cause the opposite reaction and make the body use the calories from the Negative Calorie food to burn fat and increase metabolism. These foods include mostly fruits and vegetables which when used correctly can help you lose a lot of weight very quickly.

The more Negative Calorie foods you eat, the greater the effect of this diet. Now to most people trying to lose weight fast, this sounds like a miracle, but it's not very healthy to do this. Most people who try this diet complain about fatigue and that it's too difficult to do the diet for even a week.

But if you're still serious about trying the Negative Calorie diet, check this out This page reveals many things about the Negative Calorie diet including the pros and cons of it, what people who have tried it are saying, and even a better alternative to this diet.

How Negative Calorie Foods Work and How They Can Benefit You
By Zaheer Fazal Platinum Quality Author

All foods that we consume take our bodies some energy to breakdown, digest, absorbing all the required nutrients. On average, your body is required to burn 150-200 calories to breakdown and digest foods; this varies depending on your age, weight, activity levels etc. By eating foods that are both low in calories and difficult to digest, you will actually burn more calories than to ingest in the first place!

'Negative calorie foods' can be best described as food that your body finds difficult to break down and digest due to their cellular structure. This means that in order to digest these foods, you body will need to work harder than its average of 150 calories, thus making it possible for you to burn calories as you eat.

This is possible as some of these foods do not contain the 150 calories needed to digest them; this means that your body will actually need to rely on its own fat stores to 'finish off' the digestion process.

Why should you include negative calorie foods into your diet?

• There is research to suggest that these types of food are fundamental in losing weight without losing nutrients. Although you will be taking in less calories, this will not decrease you recommended daily intake of vitamins and anti-oxidants.

• By including 'negative calorie foods' into your diet, you will be able to control your appetite and restrict patterns of snaking between meals on high calorie junk foods. Fruits such as pears and apples can be regarded as low-calorie snacks, as they will be able to satisfy sugar cravings.

• You will be able to increase your metabolic rate, which will aid you in losing weight quicker. These metabolism-boosting foods encourage your body to burn fat faster.

• Vegetables are a source of fibre as they contain complex carbohydrates; this means that your body is satisfied for much longer. These calories are released slowly into you system therefore keeping your full and less likely to snack throughout the day.

• Fruits contain high levels of water, which means they can provide your body with both water and nutrients without giving you too many calories. This will also allow you to cut down on hidden calories such as sugary drinks.

Negative calorie foods are therefore regarded as some of the healthiest foods available today. These natural foods provide high water content, high fibre and are low in fat. By including these types of foods into your diet, you will not only potentially lose weight for the long-term, but you will have a more balanced and healthier lifestyle.

Weight Loss Diets with Negative Calorie Foods
By P. Mehta Platinum Quality Author

Negative calorie foods are said to use more calories to digest than the calorie content of the foods themselves, resulting in a negative calorie balance. It is therefore natural to consider a diet containing these foods for weight loss.

A diet is a combination of a balanced selection of foods designed for medical or nutritional reasons. A good diet should include all major food groups. The weight loss diets (with or without negative calorie foods) are made to reduce body fat and weight. Some of the popular weight loss diets are: Atkin's diet, cabbage soup diet, grapefruit diet, Hollywood diet, negative calorie foods diet, Pritikin diet, the South beach diet and the zone diet.

Most of the weight loss diets promote to eat a particular food group and restrict other food groups. Such diets may show temporary results. If you follow these restricted diets for a long time, you may develop some health problems at later stage as these diets do not contain all the necessary nutrients needed for your body.

The secret to losing weight is to eat and drink the right kind of foods until you are satisfied. Skipping of meals is not the answer for weight loss, it can rather deteriorate your health. A healthy weight loss diet plan should include vegetables, fruits, grains, lentils and beans in your diet. Following is a sample daily diet plan that is good for keeping healthy weight and good health, irrespective of whether you follow a diet plan with negative calorie foods or not.

- Skim milk and skim yogurt.

- Salads or boiled vegetables or vegetable soup as starter.

- Whole-wheat bread/tortila, whole grain cereal and rice.

- Whole grains like kidney beans, chick peas and lentils.

- Lightly cooked green vegetables.

- Any dessert with minimum sugar.

- Lean variety of meat (it is better to avoid).

- The dinner should be light. If you had bread for lunch then have rice for dinner.

Include as much negative calorie foods as possible in the above diet plan. If you are meat eater, choose from a lean variety and restrict to one serving in a day.

A diet with negative calorie foods as main ingredients can include foods that are loaded with carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals and dietary fibers necessary for keeping you fit. The diet with negative calorie foods can be tailored for fast or gradual weight loss. The fast weight loss diet that can lower the weight up to two pounds per day, is not recommended for long term. The gradual weight loss diet can reduce one pound in a week and can be followed until desired weight is achieved. The diet can be made according to ones needs. The negative
calorie foods will not give you much benefit if you are eating foods loaded with fats and sugars. If you eat a serving of potato fries, don't think that you can reduce the calories gained from fries by simply eating some negative calorie celery.

Negative Calorie Soup - A Great Diet Soup For Your Weight Loss Goals

By Shane Dayton Platinum Quality Author

Many diets recently have been taking a page from the book of the Negative calorie foods diet. Diets like the Cabbage Soup Diet borrow from the principle of negative calories, and it's the cabbage soup diet in particular that has a lot of people interested in finding a quality negative calorie soup.

While it's nearly impossible to make a soup that is completely negative calorie (at least one worth eating) a hearty soup full of negative calorie foods can be made that keeps the belly full while burning off nearly all the calories that you eat. This tasty soup has already helped thousands lose excess weight.

The way to make a low calorie, or even negative calorie diet soup is simple: make a basic vegetable broth for the soup, with absolutely no meat, and add in a wide array of negative calorie and low calorie foods. The base could be vegetable broth, or say V-8 juice. Then add a wide array of veggies you like such as carrots, celery, mushrooms, bell peppers, fresh green beans, tomatoes, beets, cabbage, and other similar foods (but avoid potatoes).

Since this is an extremely low calorie soup, don't be afraid to pour on the spice to flavor the broth to your liking! Spice it up with a lot of garlic, black pepper, white pepper, and even a little bit of salt and other seasonings (although don't go nuts with the salt). You can even throw in some cayenne or Cajun seasoning for a little extra kick if that's what you personally like.

The more different seasonings, flavors, and veggies you have in your negative calorie diet soup, the more likely you are to enjoy it. This is key in order to be able to stay on the diet without sliding backwards, and the tastier your negative calorie diet soup, the better.

There isn't one single recipe for negative calorie soup, although all of them are the same base, then it's just a choice of what you toss in. The cabbage soup diet is maybe the most famous low calorie soup, and that recipe is easy to find, as well as several variations of it.

There is no single one recipe for this specific type of diet soup. Basically look at the list of foods that are options, use some common sense, and the rest should be easy. Flavor it up and you have a great tasty soup to help you keep off (and even shed) those extra pounds!

And if you would like to learn more about negative calorie soup, or about this entire diet in general, please feel free to visit my blog about the negative calorie foods diet.

Thanks for reading!

A Quick Negative Calorie Food Inventory - Choosing the Right Food to Help You Lose Weight
By Faviano Torres

Let's keep this straight. The term "negative calories" apply to the types of foods that have very little calorie content that they use up more body energy to be processed than what they can actually lend to the body. In the end, they create energy deficiency. This suggests that they can potentially lead to a net loss of body energy which is very helpful in fat loss. Well at least that's the theory.

There are some controversies as to the veracity of this theory within the scientific and medical communities. Some experts refute the presence of such foods while others agree that it is possible for some food to make the body expend more energy for the digestion and absorption of their nutrients than what they can provide in total. However, for the most parts, the theory is plausible.

Here's why. Foods that can make the digestive system work harder can expend more energy from the body. One good example is the celery. There are about 19 calories in one cup of diced celery. It contains zero percent fat, zero percent cholesterol and one percent carbohydrate. And the body burns more than 19 calories to burn a cup of celery.

There are other foods, which are mostly fruits and vegetables, that are labeled as "negative calories" foods. Fruits that are known to have very good negative calorie properties are blackberry, guava, lemon, raspberry, and melon cantaloupe. Other selections are apricot, clementines, watermelon, plums, tangerine, peaches, mandarin orange, strawberry, honeydew melon, damsons, grapefruit, and blackcurrant. Vegetables that have very very low calorie contents are cabbage, aubergine, cress, celery, tomato, lettuce, fennel, marrow, gourd, radish, cucumber, and chicory. Other excellent choices are broccoli, carrots, asparagus, spinach, turnip, leeks, pepper, and cauliflowers.

The crux of this theory is to lose weight while eating certain foods. It definitely advocates people to choose not only the healthy and weight loss-friendly foods but also those that can make your digestive system work overtime.

Negative Calorie Foods - Aiding Weight Loss and Increasing Metabolism
By Ken Wilssens Platinum Quality Author

While all foods contain at least some calories, there are some that are classified as negative calorie foods due to their overall affect on the body. This simply means that these particular foods use more caloric energy to eat and digest than they actually contain to begin with. The calories from these types of foods are more difficult to breakdown and process, making the body work harder to digest them, thus burning more than the food’s original caloric content.

If we gain weight when we take in more calories than we expend, it only stands to reason that if we take in less calories than we burn, we will then lose weight. Roughly ten percent of our total daily caloric intake is actually used to process and digest the foods that we’ve eaten. If we decrease the calories we ingest, add more negative calorie foods to our diets while increasing our level of physical activity, the result is healthy weight loss and an elevated metabolism.

A perfect example is a piece of cake that contains roughly 400 calories, but that also uses up 150 of those calories to eat and digest it. This then leaves a net gain of 250 calories, which of course turn into fat. Now, if instead you decided to eat a salad that contained 250 calories, but uses 400 calories to completely digest, you will have actually burned 150 calories simply by eating the salad. If you ate a piece of fruit that contained 100 calories but used up 200 calories worth during the digestion process, you will have burned an extra 100 calories just by eating the fruit.

The more negative calories that you can incorporate into your diet while maintaining a regular exercise program, the more fat you will ultimately burn. Negative calorie foods should always be prepared fresh and naturally without any added ingredients such as butter or salt, which would only counteract the food’s negative caloric affects. Negative calorie foods generally have a high fiber content, which is essential for dieters as it allows the body to feel fuller longer. Fiber also causes the body to work harder to process and breakdown the foods we’ve eaten.

Although water isn’t considered a food, ice cubes can be used as a negative calorie source. Water contains no calories at all, but the body must put forth energy to consume the ice, and also to compensate for the decrease in body temperature. Many dieters use frozen sugar-free juice cubes as healthy treats that also require the expenditure of more calories than they actually contain.

When following a diet rich with negative calorie foods, it’s important to remember that these foods are comprised mostly of water and fiber, and while they are healthy, they also lack key nutrients, proteins, and certain vitamins and minerals that the body needs to thrive.

Some vegetables that are considered to be negative calorie foods are:

Asparagus

Beets

Broccoli

Cabbage

Carrots

Cauliflower

Celery

Chili peppers

Cucumbers

Endives

Garlic

Leeks

Lettuce

Onions

Peppers

Radishes

Spinach

Turnips

Zucchini

Some fruits that are considered to be negative calorie foods are:

Apples

Blackberries

Blueberries

Cranberries

Guava

Grapefruit

Honey dew melons

Lemons

Limes

Mangoes

Oranges

Peaches

Pineapple

Plums

Raspberries

Tangerines

Tomatoes

Watermelon
